A Crazy, Happy/Sad Weekend and Some New Projects!

It’s been a couple of days since I have posted anything.  It was a very busy weekend! All in all, it was a good weekend, but it was also a very sad weekend.

On Thursday, my dad came into town so he could bring a childs rocking chair that he made for my daughter school.  The school will be hosting a golf outing later this month and will also have a silent auction to help raise money for the school.  So he hand crafted a rocking chair for the kids to paint and then auction off.  On Friday, I had a meeting at the park where will will hold our Preeclampsia Awareness Walk that is coming up in June.  Which by the way, it is sneaking up WAY too quickly (June 4th, www.promisewalk.org), there is still lots to do!

On Saturday morning, we had a birthday party for the daughter of some dear friends of ours and another friend was baptized that same evening.  This was the fun part of the weekend.  The sad part came on Friday, when I came to the realization that it was time for our dear kitty to spend the rest of her life with Jesus.  On Saturday afternoon, we had to put our beloved Lexi to sleep after a long battle with an illness she just could not overcome.  Although I know it’s best, we still miss her greatly!  It’s a bit lonely around the house without her.

So as you can see…there wasn’t much time for creating in the garage this past weekend.  So today, I will post some projects that we have completed in the last month and a half, but I never post to the blog.  Hope you enjoy!

Piano bench, turned coffee table.  Finished in black, distressed, then I wiped dark mahogany stain over the entire piece, let dry and waxed.
Vintage suitcase, re-purposed into an ottoman. The fabric was some re-purposed curtain fabric that I hand painted and covered over 5 in foam.  I attached this to the suitcase and added some bun feet for legs.  We have one at our house that I made almost 11 years ago.  It is the perfect size and GREAT extra storage.  Multipurpose!
A better view of the top!
Up-cycled shabby chic mail sorter
A couple of pedestal serving plates made from vintage dishes and pillar style candlestick holders!  Perfect for entertaining.
A couple of finds that are primed and ready to go!  Hopefully I will find some time over the next several days to get them finished and ready for the booth!  I must learn to turn off the date stamp on my camera.  Pay no attention to that on the mirror picture….it is NOT correct!

My Goodwill Bargin Find, ugly now, but I have BIG plans!
A sewing machine cabinet that we gutted!  Will make a perfect entry table or night stand.
The Chair (had 2 of these, sold one already) that I rescued from my neighbors trash about 3 or 4 years ago. It has been sitting in our shed waiting for some love.  We pulled the fabric off last night!  Now I just need to paint and recover.
So these are my next projects!  Hope to be able to share finished photos by early next week!
