Playing with Paint

It’s been about a month since I really was able to get to the garage and paint anything.  We were busy just before vacation and have been running ever since we got back.
Last week I finally got back out there.  I took some time to paint a couple of tables that we have had in the garage for a bit.  I had no specific plans for these. So this time, I was just playing with paint!  Trying out different techniques and colors.  Here are my results.

This table was painted in CeCe Caldwell’s Chalk & Clay Paint using Cinco Bayou Moss and Virginia Chestnut.  I base coated the top in Virginia Chestnut, before applying a crackle finish to just the inset and then painted the entire table in Cinco Bayou Moss.  I love this color.  It’s a rich olive green color that tends to change in different light.  Sometimes it looks more green and other times it looks more brown.  Definitely a fun color, but maybe not for everyone.  It is very earthy.
This table I wanted to give it a weathered wood effect!  Not sure it turned out exactly like I planned in my head, but I was OK with the results.
What do you think?  Weathered wood or just overly distressed?
I used a combination of Pittsburgh Gray and Young Kansas Wheat along with clear wax and aging cream. (all CeCe Caldwell’s products).
I liked it…but wasn’t in “love” with it.
What are your thoughts?
Ciao for now! Kellie
