With one exception…our Aging Wax.
This product seems to get the most questions and the one product that seems to be the most challenging for our customers.
I am going to try to remove the mystery today.
(new name: Aging Cream) it will look like this.
Grab a bowl and rubber spatula
Since our wax is non-toxic, it could be one from your kitchen, but I would recommend an old cool-whip bowl or something similar that you can pitch out when you are done, in case you don’t want to clean it!
If not, simply clean with Dawn dish soap and hot water.
You can really see the settling (oils and wax on the left, pigment on the right) and why you need to stir this before using it.
Since our products are ALL natural, the ingredients separate (like oil and water) when they are dispensed into the can.
Pigment settles to the bottom and the oil/wax moves to the top.
It should look like fudge brownie mix and
have the consistency of an uncooked cake mix.
Now, scoop it back into the original can. This is the last time you will have to do this.
These instructions are coming directly from our distributor. I have seen the process in action and it is by far the best I have seen and plan to switch to this process myself. I know I have given some of you different directions, which have worked, but this process is MUCH better and dries very quickly!
I would recommend switching to this method.
Grab a piece of cardboard. Remove about 1-2 Tablespoons (or however much you think you will need for your project) and smear it out on the cardboard.
Let this sit and move on to the next steps (see below).
- Apply clear wax FIRST, to your entire project
- Buff away any excess clear wax with a clean soft cloth
- Let the clear wax dry completely….should take approx. 30 min if you have properly removed any excess wax and it’s not overly humid
- Now BUFF the clear wax to a soft gloss using a clean soft cloth, buffing brush, electric buffer, etc.
- While you were doing steps 1-4, the cardboard was removing any excess oils in the aging wax (new name: aging cream). You can see this in the picture above. Because our wax is ALL natural, it does not have any petroleum which is what dries others waxes so quickly. This step will help IMMENSELY in the drying process.
- Now apply your aging wax (new name: aging cream) with a brush or rag.
- Let the wax sit for a bit and then buff away any excess.
- Let it dry. I prefer overnight, but at least for a couple of hours
- Then buff again to a soft gloss with a clean soft cloth
- You are now finished!

11 years agoOh how I wish i had found your blog yesterday. I was having some serious grease problems with the aging wax on my wardrobe. It looks really good but still greasy in parts and when I try to buff it with a soft cloth most of the brown comes off. Would you advise me to wait another day for it to set or should I just buff it and/or start over? Thank you so much for the information.

11 years agoSorry for the delay in response. I would suggest buffing off as much as you can. Wait a few days for that to dry down. Buff again. If you want it darker, follow the steps above, add more wax, let dry and then buff again. Hope this helps. If you have any additional questions, please let me know!
